New features from Pharmapack

A prefilled hypodermic syringe, devised by the Japanese company Terumo Corp. (Italian branch in Rome), with device for passive protection against accidental pricking, and a new type of “childproof” pack made by the UK concern Burgopak (photo).

These the winners for 2012 of the competition that the fair-convention Pharmapack dedicates each year to packaging and auxiliary products for the medical sector. In the case of Terumo, the new element consists in the original safety system integrated with the needle to prevent possible harm before, during or after the injection, and in the fact that the protective mechanism is activated automatically when the needle is inserted, without the patient having to remember to do the same.
With “Child-Resistant Slider”, in turn, Burgopack fields an original slide mechanism that indissolubly connects the blistered product, the case and the instruction leaflet. As far as the childproof system is concerned, it is a pressure closure that is opened by merely pressing on two points of the pack simultaneously, forcing the blister and the information out on either side of the pack. The Child-Resistant Slider is produced automatically; what is more it has gained the full approval of the US Commission for consumer product safety both for the effectiveness of the child protection as well as its ease of use by the elderly.

A point of reference The eleventh edition of Pharmapack Europe (Paris, 14th and 15th February 2012) has all its indicators on the up: 260 exhibitors against the 250 of the year previous, and 2800 visitors or that is 200 more compared to 2011 (that increasingly visit both days), as well as 35 well-attended technical-scientific conferences, among which the technical symposium on the transportation of pharmaceutical product in controlled temperature, organised in cooperation with Knauf Industries Healthcare stands out.
The UBM Canon show, dedicated to pharmaceutical packaging and to medical administering aids sector, hence met the approval of the operators and has also generated an oriental edition - Pharmatec Japan, held in Tokyo 21st and 23rd March 2012 - and in the USA: the first Pharmapack North America will be held in Philadelphia 22nd and 23rd May this year.The success of the formula is also borne witness to by the exhibitors (that appreciate the “quality” of a public made up of experts and managers of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and veterinary companies and healthcare institutions and organisms) as well as by the international visitors (54 countries represented), for the high technological level of the products and the services at the show.

The twelfth edition of Pharmapack Europe will be held 13th to 14th February 2013 at the Grande Halle de La Villette Paris.
