New joint venture in the field of plant-based food production

Brazilian companies Marfrig and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) have formed a new joint venture company (owned 70%-30% respectively) which will offer plant-based food products in North and South America under the new PlantPlus Food brand name.

The first plant-based burgers produced under the partnership will be launched onto the Brazilian market by the end of this year and then exported to other countries around the world. During the initial launch phase, they will be supplied to customers such as Burger King.

The joint venture expands on the companies’ existing working relationship involving the development and production of sustainable plant-based foods.

Marfrig will be responsible for production and distribution using its facilities in the US and Várzea Grande (Mato Grosso), while ADM will supply the primary raw materials (ingredients and flavours) from its plants in the USA and in Campo Grande, Brazil.
