The BAT-Buffer from M.H. Material Handling at Fachpack

The buffering system is crucial for the efficiency of packaging lines, similar to the human circulatory system that balances the pH of the blood.

Conveyor belts act like arteries, connecting machines with different rhythms, and if underestimated, can compromise the entire line. Buffers are essential to handle operational discrepancies or idle-stops, keeping production running smoothly. For example, a machine working intermittently can cause problems when connected to one that requires a constant flow, but while this can often be resolved with a few extra metres of “parking” conveyors, to handle idle-stops a complete buffering system becomes necessary.

The BAT-Buffer from M.H. Material Handling is a flexible accumulation system that can be adapted to many different products. This spiral conveyor offers up to 150 metres of accumulation space with a single motor in a relatively small footprint. The system operates with LIFO logic and, if the downstream machines have 10-20% extra capacity, allows for the elimination of end-of-shift losses.
