A unique QR code for prosecco

Thanks to the support of Markem-Imaje, Lunelli Group - a symbol of excellent in the Italian drinks market - is today aligned with the stringent standards of EU legislation on wine labelling.

According to Regulation (EU) 2021/2117, which came into force in December 2023, wine producers and suppliers are required to provide complete information on the ingredients and nutritional properties of the product for sale. It’s a demanding challenge, considering the unique properties of wine the composition of which may change from production to bottling to storage.... making it rather difficult, if not impossible, to adopt a universal or unique approach to bottle labelling.

One solution has come from Markem-Imaje, offering Smartdate X65® and CoLOS® for precise product communication.

Simplifying complexity. With the Smartdate X65® thermal transfer overprinting hardware and the CoLOS® software, Markem-Imaje, in fact, simplifies and guarantees compliance, allowing for the automatic management of nutritional and ingredients data without labelling or manual checking. The “EU Regulation on wine” requires, in fact, the acquisition of updated data for each batch through QR codes which, with Markem-Imaje’s solution, can be generated immediately and during production on paper or plastic labels.

The CoLOS® software completely integrated with Lunelli Group’s ERP, makes it possible to access data through the appropriate QR code on the bottle label, downloading the information automatically on the production line. The software also takes account of the frequent need for variations imposed by different label designs, adapting to the specific needs of each brand.

Customisation is also guaranteed by the ease of colour change of the Smartdate X65® thermal transfer printer. The association with the CoLOS® software and the ERP system makes it possible to monitor production in real time, so as to reduce waste and energy consumption, improving operating efficiency and environmental impact.

The labels are, therefore, an indispensable tool for describing the different nuances and cuvées of the Prosecco Superiore of Valdobbiadene.
