Increasingly compact multiscan metal detector
Thermo Scientific Sentinel 3000 is the first multi-frequency metal detector specifically designed for combined metal detection and food production weighing systems, able to guarantee users improved functionality and higher performance with a smaller footprint than normally required for two instruments.
It is therefore the smallest model of the Sentinel line, mounted on the frame of Thermo Scientific VersaWeigh and Versa GP checkweighers.
The integration of the detector inside the frame of the checkweigher excludes the presence of the external conveyor; the new software of the Versa harmonized checkweigher also allows the use of the checkweigher and the metal detector from a single screen and is designed with the specific purpose of improving ease of use, also reducing training time.
As Bob Ries - Thermo Fisher Scientific metal detection and X-ray inspection product manager - points out: «Food manufacturers are increasingly adopting combined systems for a cheaper product inspection. The Sentinel 3000 actually allows the use of advanced technologies at multiple frequencies, so as to guarantee consumer safety by optimizing space; but an integrated metal detectoroffers additional value, given that the hardware is shared with the sorter».
Multi-frequency technology. The Sentinel 3000 metal detector is equipped with a multiscan technology that allows users to select up to five frequencies from 50 to 1000 kHz, scanning at high speed: in practice, “five metal detectors in a one”.
The multiscan was made with a higher degree of sensitivity to identify contaminants with a 30% smaller diameter than previous Thermo Scientific solutions. The technology is also designed to increase the likelihood that metallic foreign bodies of all sizes and shapes, and their random positioning, can be traced before food reaches consumers.
Finally, there is a wide range of food applications guaranteed by the Sentinel 3000 metal detector: from dairy products to meat, from poultry to fruit and vegetables to bread.
