For increasing precision
A spirit of cooperation, a friendly approach, esteem for each other’s respective areas of expertise: these are the foundations on which flexo printing machinery manufacturer Lombardi Converting Machinery and mechatronic solutions producer Wittenstein are building their relationship
To believe in the power of technology for developing cutting-edge machinery, offering the market high level solutions with optimized production processes.
Over the course of thirty years in business, Lombardi Converting Machinery has pursued the right balance of mechanical and electronic elements in order to supply systems that guarantee robustness, precision and reliability (especially for label printers).
Of course the market game is always decided based on quality of results: labels and packaging artfully printed regardless of substrate type. This characteristic is guaranteed on Lombardi central drum flexo and in line narrow web flexo systems partly thanks to the use of advanced automation, smart electronics and envelope-pushing data transmission enabling all the machine’s components to synch up in “dialog” and enhance the efficiency of the production process.
As the head of Lombardi’s technical office Andrea Roversi pointed out at a recent meeting, Wittenstein managed to offer both the right product (TP+ planetary gearheads) and an outstanding aptitude for problem-solving, with planning support and assistance guaranteed in real time.
Flexible, powerful, reliable. Lombardi’s decision to equip its latest generation Synchroline flexo printer with TP+ gearheads was motivated by their unique features: quiet running, exceptional torque, high torsional rigidity, very high precision even in high dynamicity applications. They are very compact, guaranteeing full load yield of 97%. Defined by the manufacturer as a “universal press” due to its flexibility and ease of use, but also on account of some innovative structural elements, Synchroline guarantees maximum register precision, which remains a fundamental asset for Lombardi’s entire offer.
And, in this sense, Wittenstein’s TP+ gearheads have effectively “neutralized” vibrations during the printing phase, which can compromise the final product’s quality. The line is used to drive print modules: two for each color (in machinery printing in an average of 10 colors), at installation input and output.
Lombardi has no doubts as to the results obtained by adopting Wittenstein mechatronic solutions on the Synchroline flexographic line: “quality in synch” beyond every expectation.
Focus on the gearheads
WITTENSTEIN alpha’s TP+ compact reduced play planetary gearheads with output flange are precise, flexible, powerful and reliable.
Helicoid cogs and optimized single components make the gearheads extremely quiet (≤58 db(A)) and add 40% of torque compared to the previous series.
Angular backlash of ≤ 1 arcmin enables extremely high precision positioning.
TP+ is available in a standard version, suitable for high precision positioning and operation cycles featuring high dynamicity, and a HIGH TORQUE® version, which is especially recommended for applications requiring extreme precision and maximum torsional rigidity.
TP+ standard is available in seven different sizes, with reduction ratios ranging from i=4 to i=100, maximum acceleration torque up to 6000 Nm and a max input speed of up to 6,000 rpm.
Compared to the standard version, the HIGH TORQUE® series offers up to 900% overload capacity, torsional rigidity exceeding 110% and up to 50% higher torque, reaching up to 40,000 Nm, for eight formats covering reduction from i=22 to i=302.5.
TP+ requires the same amount of oil regardless of where it is mounted and can be securely coupled to the motor in one step with no risk of error.
