Upak Italia: Russia growing
The Russian packaging market is one of the most vibrant for the sector industry, in spite of the weakness of the ruble and the uncertainty of the economy, coupled with some recent laws (eg the one on alcoholic beverages) that have slowed down demand for the goods in question.
This is confirmed by the closure figures for the recent 22nd Upakovka/Upak Italy, which was held in Moscow January 28th to 31st 2014, with some 20 thousand visitors from various countries of the former Soviet Union, counting 300 exhibitors, the majority of which Russian (86 companies), Italian (71) and German (63). This has also been confirmed by the Centrexpo figures of exports to Russia of Italian food processing and packaging machinery, that in the first 11 months of last year grew by around 14% compared to the same period the year previous.
Co-organized by Messe Düsseldorf and Centrexpo, covering an exhibition area of about 5,500 square meters, Upakovka/Upak Italia put on show a full range of packaging and wrapping products and machines, being held in conjunction with interplastica 2014 (plastics and rubber). The next edition is scheduled for January 27th to 30th, again in parallel with interplastica.
