Decoration: new horizons
“Creating New Horizons” is the leitmotiv of Leonhard Kurz’s presence at Drupa 2016; opportunities and prospects for the printing (including digital) and decoration sector, with solutions ranging from decoration materials to systems to simplify the finishing process.
Alongside foils and plates for decoration and hot foil, cold and digital printing, «Kurz offers cutting-edge solutions for enhancing and optimizing printing production processes», explains Jazna Kokrhanek, CEO of Luxoro (exclusive distributor and representative for Kurz in Italy), introducing the Kurz Easy system, whose concept includes Foil Connect software, which makes it possible to quickly calculate the most efficient use of the foil in a production, a new series of foils for hot stamping with a wider field of application and more up to date methodologies to facilitate plate-mounting and shorten machine setup times. Also in the field of solutions for production processes, the new Distorun system is also being presented at Drupa. This solution enables cold stamping single image holograms and optimizes consumption of foil in reel-fed systems.
There are also many new additions to the concern’s traditional product portfolio, including foils with new and unique designs for hot and cold stamping. Such is the case of the White Series, in which the play of rainbow tints typical of conventional holographic plates has been modified to produce elegant, predominantly opaque white tonalities.
The Luxor MTS PolarLight foil produces surprising chromatic effects jumping from one tint to another as the angle of observation changes.
Duocolor is a single image foil that presents a color flip effect, superimposed with a defractive design that confers a further prismatic effect, while Here, featuring a holographic design, with multiple layers of images incorporating color elements, features high register precision. Also worth note are two unprecedented 3D holographic effects: Deep Lens, consisting in an optical lens with an exceptional deep effect, and design FX which simulates a realistic relief, with a photorealistic appearance that is perceivable to the touch thanks to spatial effects.
As a pioneer in decoration for digital printing, at Drupa Kurz is also showing the new generation of Digital Metal, DM Liner, an application module that guarantees a wide array of decorative options.
