The miniaturization of safety components reduces their purchase price and the space required in machines and plants. Progressive digitization enables greater transparency of processes and predictive maintenance initiatives. In the wake of Industry 4.0, machines and plants are becoming more complex and consequently require more extensive safety systems: networking different safety switches is one way to reduce complexity.
Miniaturization. AZM40 is the world's smallest safety electric lock, with a high holding force of 2,000 Newtons.
The extremely compact RSS260 RFID safety sensor comes with new software, offering four additional functions of your choice (which saves a safety relay module, but also reduces wiring and installation costs).
Digitization. When exchanging data with the PROTECT PSC1 safety control, you can use the integrated universal communication interface as a gateway to send diagnostic information from the safety sensors to a higher-level control system.
Networking. More flexibility and less wiring to cope with the increasing complexity of safety measures for larger machines and systems. This is the case with Safety Fieldbox (flexible and individually configurable safety solutions as well as fail-safe "plug & play" installation of various types of switches) or Schmersal's SD-Bus, a system for serial diagnostics of series connections.
