Established in 1961, IMA is world leader in the design and manufacture of automatic machines for the processing and packaging of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, tea and coffee.
Its position of leadership is the result of significant investments in R&D, regular and constructive dialogue with the end-users in its sectors and the Group’s ability to expand internationally, conquering new markets.
Its history features a constant growth that has enabled the Group to close the year 2017 with consolidated revenues of 1,444.7 million euros, an increase of 10.2% over the previous year. Exports accounted for more than 88%.
The Group, whose Chairman is Alberto Vacchi, has more than 5,700 employees, about 2,800 of whom overseas, and is present in about 80 countries, supported by a sales network made up of 29 branches (Italy, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Spain, Poland, Israel, Russia, the United States, India, China, Malaysia, Thailand and Brazil), representative offices in central-eastern Europe and more than 50 agencies. The Group has 45 production plants in Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, the UK, the USA, India, Malaysia, China and Argentina, and it owns more than 1,700 patents and patent applications in the world and has launched many new machine models over the last years. IMA S.p.A. has been listed on the Milan Stock Exchange since 1995 and in 2001 joined the STAR segment.
The presence on the American market
The Group is present in the USA through the following manufacturing and service companies: IMA North America Inc. (solid dose processing and packaging solutions, packaging machines for tea and coffee), IMA Life North America Inc. (aseptic processing, filling and freeze drying solutions), IMA Automation USA Inc. (machines for assembling medical products for self-medication), Delta Systems & Automation Inc. (packaging lines), Valley Tissue Packaging Inc. (packaging machines for tissue and personal care products).
The Group’s marketing companies in the USA are the following: IMA Dairy & Food USA Inc. (packaging machines for the dairy and food industries), Ilapak Inc. (packaging lines), Teknoweb N.A. Llc (machines for the production of wet wipes), TMC North America Inc. (packaging machines for tissue and personal care products).
The IMA Group at Pack Expo 2018
The IMA Group presents at Pack Expo 2018 a complete portfolio featuring the launch of new machines, new technical solutions to specific production issues, pilot projects for Industry 4.0, unique approaches to manufacturing processes and turn-key applications. It has organized its booth and its attendance to grant visitors a comprehensive overview of what IMA really represents in the processing and packaging of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, tea, coffee and food, featuring a wide range of solutions to meet all requirements.
IMA’s exhibition area welcomes visitors on a journey that unveils the opportunities available to them in several manufacturing stages, offering virtual as well as a real-life tour through the Smart Factory of the future. An area is dedicated to Automation, showing advanced assembly solutions for the pharmaceutical and food industries.
Among the more recent enterprise projects, one of the most outstanding is IMA Digital, comprising a series of digital functions already fitted and working on some of the machines on show. The man-machine interaction concept is evolving quickly, and the company is bringing a practical experience to Chicago.
