cibustec_logo.pngA few months from the official opening, Cibus Tec 2019 is practically sold out.
According to the data provided by the organizers, a total of 1,300 companies will be present (30% more than the previous edition), with a 25% growth in the exhibition area, which includes an additional pavilion.

A global platform
«We are expecting 40 thousand visitors, 25% of which from abroad, as well as 3,000 top buyers» said Thomas Rosolia (president of Koeln Parma Exhibitions srl and Ceo of Koelnmesse srl), emphasizing the value of the collaboration between Koelnmesse and Fiere di Parma:

«In this 52nd edition we are indeed reaping the fruits of a partnership, thanks to which Cibus Tec has become part of the largest permanent world food and food technology platform. In fact, together with Anuga, Cibus, ISM, Anuga FoodTec, Prosweets Cologne and twelve other events on our circuit, we have created a community of 11,000 companies. A virtuous circuit that, on the one hand, has strengthened the internationalization process of the Parma event, on the other hand has contributed to enhancing Italian technology abroad: at Anuga FoodTec Italian exhibitors have in fact grown by 11% while at Prosweets Cologne they have increased by 14%».

Antonio Cellie (Koeln Parma Exhibitions srl and Fiere di Parma SpA CEO) was able to echo him, adding that since the 1930s «Fiere di Parma has been considered the main fair “theatre” for the food processing as well as packaging and bottling sectors. Today we are fully in the international elite thanks to our central positioning: through Cibus, we have a privileged relationship with the territory and the food industry, and Cibus Tec has upped in value thanks to its partnership with Koelnmesse. We have created an effective joint venture between two leaders in the food sector, thanks to which large groups but also SMEs in the sector have access to a single, permanent and global market platform. A driving force for the export of Italian technologies perfectly synchronous with the international demand that requires specialization and outstanding competence».

An international footprint
According to the facts, what clearly emerges is, above all the internationalization of the event.
Exhibitors will in fact be able to benefit from the most important "Top Buyer" program of all FoodTec fairs, developed with the support of Ice-Agenzia, with over 3,000 international operators from 70 countries (international brands of the calibre of Coca Cola, Dean Foods, Del Monte, Fonterra, Jbs, Kraft Heinz, Lactalis, Nadec, PepsiCo...).
And that Cibus Tec was conceived precisely under the sign of internationalization, as Maria Ines Aronadio (director of the ICE-Agency Coordination Office for the Promotion of Made in Italy) reiterated, reconstructing the stages of the path that led to defining the program of the 2019 edition.

Aronadio recalled the increasing importance for the MISE of both the commercial policy to support exports - in 2019, 180 million euros were allocated for the promotional plan, far in excess of the 40 allocated in 2014 – and likewise the choice of strengthening trade fairs in Italy, which over the last 5 years, has also allowed us to bring an extraordinary number of international buyers and journalists to our country.
«The food machinery sector is an excellence of Italian technology, on which the Italian System is aiming in a decisive manner - the ICE-Agency representative pointed out - and Cibus Tec is one of the main appointments, on which we concentrate a high added value operation that, this year, will draw some 130 professional operators from 35 countries, in addition to delegations from Angola, Ethiopia and Mozambique».

An articulated offer
At the fair, technologies will be presented for all agri-food supply chains (fruit and vegetables, milk and derivatives, meat and fish products, ready meals) with the addition of a new sector, that of bakery, cereal-derived, snacks and confectionery products.

CibusTec_web03.pngFor the first time in the 80-year history of the show, an entire pavilion will be dedicated to the most innovative technological solutions for juices, milk, water, soft drinks, beer, spirits and wine, relying on the presence of over 150 of the main Italian and international suppliers.

Overall, the fair will feature 400 foreign brands, active in the field of Food & Beverage technologies from 25 countries (+30% compared to 2016); among the most represented countries, Germany, followed by the Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland, France, but also a considerable number of brands from China, USA and Turkey.

Lastly, a change of pace both for the meat section (+20%) and the packaging sector, which has grown by 40% compared to the previous edition.

Convegni ed eventi
Cibus Tec looks to the future, supporting the need for increasingly sustainable productions, to offer the consumer nutritious products that aboveall feature high safety standards. In this vein, the fair will host theInternational Biofilm Summit (si veda il box).

Cibus Tec Industry in turn puts the onus on technological innovation, featuring a project that will reproduce four automated and functional lines dedicated to the dairy, meat, ready meals and bakery products sector at the fair, with complete production cycles (from the raw material to the finished product up to storage).

Lastly, we briefly cite the other events on the agenda: Tomato Day, Logistically On Food 2019, DIU Design for Intended Use For Food Packaging Showcases, as well as the workshops organized by EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group) and by the National Council of the Order of Food Technologists.

INTERNATIONAL BIOFILM SUMMIT
Promote efficient hygiene management in the food & beverage industries, share knowledge and propose concrete solutions to the threat created by biofilms in industrial environments.
These are the objectives of the third edition of the International Biofilm Summit (IBS), scheduled for October 23 and 24 (organized by
Realco and hosted this year at Cibus Tec, partner of the initiative) which will gather together in Parma accredited experts on the subject.
Created by an accumulation of bacteria that develop a protective matrix composed of organic polymers - which allows pathogenic organisms to resist conventional cleaning and disinfection tools and which, for this reason, can develop exponentially - biofilms represent one of the main threats to the food & beverage market. It is estimated that 60% of food/beverage-borne diseases are caused by their formation on the surfaces of industrial food processing equipment.
With the title "Biofilm contamination: the biggest threat to profitability for the F&B industry”, the IBS hence turns to quality managers, production managers, industrial companyfood safety and quality controllers and companies specialized in hygiene, interested in extending the state of the art of the scientific knowledge related to biofilms.
Among the focuses of 2019 are the monitoring of zoonoses and food-borne epidemics in the European Union, the use of DNA sequencing technologies to investigate contamination pathways in the food industry, antimicrobial tolerance of multispecies biofilms in breweries, the management of Listeria Monocytogenes.
