Pharmapack Europe 2018
Exhibition-conference dedicated to packaging and pharmaceutical distribution, Pharmapack Europe confirms its position among the major EMEA events dedicated to this sector.
The interest aroused by the event organized by UBM (Paris, Porte De Versailles from 7 to 8 April 2018) not only concerns commercial activities but also the extensive conference programme, that witnessed the intervention of experts of an international standing, called upon to look further into the main trends of pharmaceutical packaging in 2018.
Among the thematic focuses at the centre of the debate, the key role played by the internet for the sector companies - without overlooking the consequent risks - mainly related to the diffusion in network of counterfeit pharmaceutical products, the forthcoming European FDM/DSCSA legislative deadlines, intelligent packaging and traceability, as valuable tools to inform and guarantee the authenticity of products, while raising concerns about privacy.
The breakout sessions
Additional evolutionary trends in the industry were the subject of four thematic conferences: “Regulatory changes and their impact” examined in detail the guidelines on international legislation for tamper-evident-, “child-proof” (CRP) and sterile packaging. The effects of biological combination products on the development of devices were the focus of the session “Challenges in Creating Packaging and Devices”. The subsequent talk looked into how “The new pharmaceutical administration devices will revolutionize the lives of patients and improve adherence to treatment” (in particular, among the solutions under consideration, needle-free injections, nasal administration and “patient centric packaging”). Finally, the “Call For Challenges and Start-Ups” was dedicated to biotechnology companies and start-ups engaged in innovation.
Among other initiatives of note we cite the Innovation Gallery, which, with its Pharmapack Start-Up Hub and the Start-Up Pitch, debuting this year, offered companies the opportunity to present to a jury of specialists their own state-of-the-art-solutions, where 23 of most interesting innovations were highlighted.
