Cellulose packaging for e-commerce, the most appreciated and recycled

According to a survey conducted by AstraRicerche for Comieco (National Consortium for the Recovery and Recycling of Cellulose-based Packaging), 68.2% of those interviewed have increased their frequency of online purchases in the last year.

COMIECO.pngFor 41% of them, however, the consequence of this habit would be an increase in the amount of packaging to be disposed of, especially paper and cardboard. In this context, segregated collection is confirmed as an effective system to manage waste, also thanks to the commitment of the supply chain in designing more sustainable packaging.

In 2020, Italy is the only country to have increased the use of pulp for industrial production (+1% according to Cepi - Confederation of the European Paper Industry). 39.2% of those interviewed by AstraRicerche have noticed an improvement in terms of greater recyclability and less overpackaging (30.4%), considering paper/cardboard as the most sustainable materials for e-commerce packaging (84%).
