Genesis of a Group

The growth strategies implemented by Punto Pack, which acquires MAV and consolidates its position as a B Corp, in the name of circular economy and sustainability. Shared objectives and real synergies in the production of plastic packaging.

Keypoint in nutraceutical and pharmaceutical packaging and the first plastic packaging manufacturer to obtain B Corp certification, Punto Pack (Parma) has made a decisive move into the cosmetics and food sectors by purchasing MAV Srl, one of the most interesting companies in the wide mouth packaging sector.

«The MAV operation - explains Roberto Nisica, president of Punto Pack - was born first of all out of our partnership with the owner William Tozzi, with whom we have shared technical, operational and commercial experience for years. Becoming effective partners will allow us to combine the two companies into a Group with a turnover of more than 25 million and an EBITDA of more than 5 million, and to put in place a range of synergies that are the common thread of our growth. Integration, production optimization, logistics rationalization and range complementarity are our strengths».

William Tozzi, president of MAV, echoes him: «I’ve always felt at ease with Roberto Nisica and being able to collaborate more closely, offering my contribution to the growth of the Group, is what I’ve wanted for my company, which represents my professional life. I am certain that the combination of Punto Pack’s production, organizational and innovation skills with our specific know-how in cosmetics will give us great satisfaction».

A partnership for “ethical” plastic. Punto Pack and MAV, in addition to using cutting-edge technology and machinery to blow, extrude, print, screen print and decorate bottles, jars and accessories in PET, RPET, HDPE and LDPE, share important objectives: from welfare, care and respect for their employees to the careful management of resources.

Both have in fact implemented many small and large actions to reduce consumption, optimize processes, recover emissions so as to make a positive environmental balance.

«On the other hand - intervenes Nisica - plastic is by nature 100% recyclable and is therefore the most sustainable of the raw materials used for packaging, since to produce it, much less fossil fuel is used, much less water is used and less CO2 is released into the atmosphere than aluminium, glass and paper».

The Punto Pack / Mav Group is therefore at the forefront of the campaign to raise awareness about the proper use, management and recycling of plastics.

«We are convinced that, in this sense, it is essential to act on a cultural level in defense of this material, because - concludes Roberto Nisica - plastic in itself is not harmful to the environment: it all depends on the use and post-consumer management that we do»

Being and producing as a B Corp

The Punto Pack / MAV Group follows the B Corp philosophy, which requires companies to adhere to the principles of certified circular economy and supply chain. In the following, its declination of the statutory obligations.

  • To put into the plastic recycling chain the totality of the production waste, already reduced by 50% in the last 5 years thanks to strict quality controls on the production line.
  • Use integrated and short-distance logistics for customers and for the network of suppliers, chosen in accordance with the principles and ethics of the company.
  • Use renewable energies as much as possible (it is not by chance that the production-logistics offices in Parma and Bologna are equipped with state-of-the-art photovoltaic systems that exploit the entire covered surface, representing a very important contribution to the positivity of CO2 emissions).
  • Propose sustainable packaging: a wide choice of eco-friendly materials, including Replastic recycled plastic or plastic derived from bio-based renewable sources.
  • Produce items that are 100% sustainable: for this reason, particular attention is paid to the supply chain of all components used and assembled to achieve zero impact.
  • Invest in research, development, and implementation of an ultra-thin design, optimized to ensure proper post-consumer recyclability.
