During the lockdown, consumers are preferring to buy from chains such as Biocoop, Naturalia, La Vie Claire, Bio C’Bon and Naturéo, which according to Nielsen recorded an increase in average grocery basket value from €40 in mid-March to €59 in mid-April.
The large-scale retail sector has reported a similar trend, with organic products seeing 63% growth compared to the 40% of non-organic products. This marks the continuation of a longer-term trend in France, following the segment’s sales growth of 13% in 2018 and 19% in 2019.
