PCD 2013: a beauty-full fair

Commentary on the fair/convention for cosmetics packaging. Along with ADF (which shows aerosols for all sectors of use), the event once again confirms that it’s not to be missed by operators in the French market.

Plenty of activity among the small stands at the last PCD and its partner event ADF - Aerosol Dispensing Forum (Paris, February 6th-7th, 2013, organized by Oriex).
The Parisian fair/event dedicated to packaging for beauty products is growing substantially, both in terms of exhibitors (110 at PCD and 60 at ADF, an average growth of +38%) and of visitors (approximately 3,000, +25%). Once again this year, the event supplied a lot of information on technologies and trends. The participation of top managers was enlisted, representing concerns in the sector, suppliers and users, with the major international brands first and foremost, represented by their packaging and marketing managers, R&D technicians and all the way up to managing directors and presidents...
Not only do they add authority to the event and hold the decision-making power which, at a fair, makes the difference, but they are also able to share in their turn information and broad and far-sighted visions, in one-on-one meetings with suppliers as well as in the packed schedule of the conferences during the two days.
The event’s synergy with ADF (same space, same exhibition formula, but focusing on aerosols for various applications, from personal care to food...) proved valuable for both parties, fostering exchanges of ideas and knowhow and stimulating the public to move between one area and the other; distinguished only by a different color carpet on the floor, they were brought closer together by the nearness of the proposals offered by each, often targeting the same user concerns.
In such a way, visitors to the two shows could identify new aerosols in the cosmetics and other sectors, witness firsthand the progress and appeal of decoration techniques, keep up with the rise of recycled plastics in the beauty sector and take stock of the latest proposals of packaging and accessory suppliers, in addition to the complementary areas of preprinting and workflows...
The passing out of PCD and ADF Awards proved stimulating and far from just going through the motions: an occasion for better understanding the degree of complexity and refinement that have been reached by beauty packaging. In the pages that follow, a few suggestions and the names of the winners.
The next edition of the two fairs is scheduled for the 5th and 6th of February, 2014.
