Growing, despite everything

Despite the unhappy economic situation, Innova Group filed away a successful 2013 and begins 2014 showing further growth. Here is how.


The editorial by Luca Pedrotti in the Innova’s June house organ starts by citing the many critical aspects of the market and the sector. The monthly newssheet, that informs on the run of the integrated papermaking and converting group based at Caino (BS), effectively evokes the “terrible crisis”, the 25% of Italian concerns that have “gone by the board” over the last five years, the “penalising economic policy” and, last but not least, the sacrifices made by father Giovanni to found the company, in 1972, and to consolidate it in a leading role. It might sound like a De profundis if it were not followed by figures of a different tone on the run of the group of companies headed by Innova: the growth in turnover from the 20 million in 2000 to the 86 million at the end of 2013, the 50 million invested in “facilities and machinery, but also in people, that for us feature as the foundation and the heart of the company”… And, to stay with the here and now, the increase in sales (+3%) registered last year, despite the difficult market situation and the limited scope of the compensatory outlets abroad, the yet further rise in raw material prices (+30% average) and the consequent drop in operating margins.

A well-orchestrated plan Hence well-founded the satisfaction expressed during the traditional June press conference by the Pedrotti brothers that guide the Brescia based company. Varied and far-reaching the strategy fielded to consolidate the Innova Group that, as Luca stated, operates with success on a market that has been shrinking for some time (-5.6% over the lasts two years according to internal estimates).
Two - or rather three - the company’s strongpoints: the increase in productivity, the competitivity both in terms of price and in terms of quality, the positive returns on a personnel policy - the Pedrotti bros. underline -  much at the basis of the company’s success.

The increase in production is reflected in the growth of the first months of 2014: around +20% and greater than estimated. This was made possible due to a wealth of investment and targeted actions to increase efficiency. Last in order of time the purchase of a new Bobst Flexo 160 Vision print machine for Imballaggi San Felice, that completes its automatic line made up of diecutter and sheet-feeder, these too from Bobst. It is, states Diego Pedrotti, a high performance machine that integrates the print and diecutting stages in one pass, notably improving efficiency, speed and the cost-effectiveness of the production cycle, as well as the quality of work in general. In support of the continuous effort to improve one has an attentive management of the customer base (significantly renewed and extended) and the employment of new personnel, now totalling 204, where the onus is placed on sharing information and responsibility with co-workers,  who show an above-average degree of involvement and sincere affection for a company truly rooted in its own heartland.
