The guidelines for the documentary avowal of GMP are now available. Developed under the CAST project, they are the result of a longterm project that, through knowledge sharing, becomes a common platform for dialogue between packaging producers and food control bodies.

The activities of the CAST (Contact Food Safety and Technology) Project continue to bring considerable results. This was demonstrated by the crowded open day, hosted in the great Hall of Frescoes of the Milan Società Umanitaria, specifically dedicated to the presentation of the Guidelines for the documentary avowal of GMP now ready and available for industry operators.
During the event (which, we reiterate, took place during the World Food Day, as part of the Research, Innovation and Food Safety show of which the Istituto Italiano Imballaggio is a promoter), the presentation of the contents by Maria Rosaria Milana (ISS) was followed by a round table discussion. Coordinated by the journalist Roberto La Pira, director of ilfattoalimentare.it, with the presence of figures the standing of Elvira Cecere representing the Italian Ministry of Health, Davide Bordonaro of theNovara ASL (local health authorities) and Luisa Crisigiovanni of Altroconsumo.
The hope expressed by all those present is that the guidelines will find use in all areas of local and regional controls, as tools to facilitate dialogue between the parties.

Guidelines for the documentary avowal of GMP Natural conclusion of the Guidelines for the application of Regulation 2023/2006/EC to the supply chain of materials and articles intended for food contact - MOCA, these Guidelines are the result of the joint work of the many stakeholders involved in the food chain (food and food packaging producers), carried out under the scientific responsibility of the Italian Institute for Health (ISS) and with the organizational support of the Istituto Italiano Imballaggio.
The guidelines are structured in a part of general application plus practical commented information sheets for documentary avowal, broken down per types of materials and objects into aluminum, paper and cardboard, flexible packaging, plastics, wood, coated and uncoated metals and alloys, cork, glass
A structure, this, that enables a model approach to the specific theme to be adopted, based on the characteristics of the different materials, while adopting a generally shared view of things. The documents in fact on the one hand aim at providing concerns, with particular attention to SMEs, applicable working indications, on the other hand indicating to the control bodies the pattern of action for a proper documentary appraisal of the companies in question.
