During the crisis year 2020, the members of the European Tube Manufacturers Association (etma) achieved an impressive total production of 11.5 billion tubes made of aluminum (35%), plastic (27%) and laminate (38%) thanks to very lively demand in the first quarter, only 0.4 percent below the previous year’s level.

The segment most penalized by the pandemic appears to be cosmetics (-3%), while dental hygiene registered a slight downturn (-1%). On the other hand, the pharmaceutical sector registered growth of 3%. the best results were achieved by the food (+12%), homecare and DIY sectors (+14%). These trends are consistent with the general withdrawal into the home brought about by the pandemic.
