The seven Best Packaging for 2019
Focus on sustainability for the 2019 edition of the now historic Italian Packaging Oscar, the contest organized by Packaging Meeting, and promoted by the Italian Packaging Institute in partnership with Conai.
Seven finalists, selected among the 23 candidates admitted to the competi-tion (to whom we gave ample feedback on the issue No. 5 of ItaliaImballaggio as well as on our websites, Ed.) presented last May 13 at the Feltrinelli Foundation during Talks on Tomorrow on “packaging of the future and envi-ronmental sustainability” (series of events organized by Repubblica and H-Farm).
For the occasion, on the stage, talking about the future, Anna Paola Cavanna and Giorgio Quagliuolo - respectively Presidents of the Italian Packaging Insti-tute and Conai - both passionate in advocating the “cause” of packaging as a motor of culture and civilization.
This was followed by Paola Fabbri (associate professor of materials sciences and technology at the University of Bologna), Roger Botti (designer and op-erations director, as well as partner of the Robilant Associati agency) and Carlo Alberto Pratesi (professor of Marketing, innovation and sustainability of the RomaTre University).
Among interesting insights on the meaning of “sustainability”, both from a technological and a social point of view, the talk show attracted the audi-ence to a fundamental need: that of an ever greater knowledge of the sub-ject and its wide sharing, given that packaging is the protagonist of a long process that involves an entire industrial chain, from design to domestic segragated collection, but also part of our lives.
Pratesi, also called as President of the Jury of Best Packaging 2019, then presented the winning products which, in addition to the lower environmen-tal impact, evaluated the innovative aspects in the use of technologies and materials, but also the functional ones, namely planning and design.
