Super flexo for packaging

Double Italo-American open house at Uteco, which presents its Crystal New Series globally: a totally equipped flexo printing machine specifically designed for flexible packaging.

Automation, speed, reduced energy consumption and ‘green’: these are the features of the new flexo printing machine presented by Uteco on 6th and 7th November, in a double event attended by large converters from around the world, at the company’s American subsidiary in Atlanta and at the headquarter in Colognola ai Colli (Verona, Italy). The new machine is called Crystal 808, and stands out immediately for its modern, appealing design, and was presented in the full version equipped with various systems unique in kind, some of which at their world premier. The goal of Uteco’s design engineers was in fact to produce a specialized machine specifically made for flexible packaging, but also easily adaptable to any application required by the market.

High technology. Among the most interesting, the Tune & Go system automatically regulates the position of the print axes, increasing the stability, enabling the reduction of registry errors and harmonic vibrations during the process, and the popular and widespread Kiss & Go for the adjustment of printing pressure at every work start-up. This system, original and patented, is equipped with a closed-loop control which, through suitable sensors, detects the differences in color directly on the printed material. The CPU then sends the input adjustment to the positioning motors of the printing units, obtaining the automatic set-up of pressures.
In addition, thanks to the participation of Grafikontrol, technological partner of Uteco, two other unreleased devices were presented, called K-Register and ChromaLab. The first is a fully automatic registry control, which, thanks to the use of tiny rings (2 mm diameter), enabling simultaneous register at start-up without operator intervention. The second is an in-line spectrophotometer enabling real time detection of the data on colors.

Keys of success. The Kiss & Go has been one of the keys to the success of the open house so Uteco North America as well as the event of Colognola ai Colli. Here Uteco is finishing the third facilities, by 2014, which will be added to the current production area of 15 thousand sqm. Considerable organizational effort: the Uteco Converting seat has been expanded to the occasion and arranged to accommodate more than 300 people who were also able to attend the live demo conducted on the Onyx 108 complete with the most innovative devices. The work of a team of over 40 mechanical, electrical & mechatronic engineers, the new solution was examined with the maximum attention by the operators. Who where pleased with what they saw: the event ended with the sale of three machines.

Uteco Group was founded in 1985 and quickly became one of the world leaders in the manufacturing of machines and equipment for the production of flexible packaging.
