Specialists in Delta robots… and not only

The broad portfolio of WITTENSTEIN high-performing products ensures optimal sizing, both from a technical and from an economic point of view, also for highly dynamic multi-axis motion profiles.

Parallel axis (Delta) robots are often used in packaging lines. They are mostly unique pieces, whose singularity has great implications for handling and sorting systems that require robots with two, three or four axes.

On the one hand, the processes have a very high number of short cycles and movements with high dynamics and long working times; on the other hand, there are transmissions, in which the axes are subjected to multiple stresses and loads. WITTENSTEIN’s offer for these applications is made up of a vast portfolio of high-performance products, which ensure the customer optimal dimensioning, both from a technical and from an economic point of view, also for highly dynamic multi-axis motion profiles.

Gearboxes for every operating environment

The planetary gearbox with DP+ output flange stands out among the gearboxes specifically designed for Delta applications, also available with reduced backlash of ≤ 1 arcmin, reduction ratios from 16 to 55, and torques from 32 Nm to 992 Nm. There’s a version resistant to corrosion (both coated and not) and one for applications with direct contact with foods, EHEDG certified.

TMP+ and premo® servo actuators

Besides gearboxes, TPM+ and premo® servo actuators can also be used, involving the integration of extremely high precision planetary gearboxes and highly dynamic brushless motors.

  • I TPM+ ensure excellent performance also if used on axes with high inertia ratios and have natural convection cooling where it would normally be necessary to cool with water. Ideal also for robotics applications with more traditional kinematics and large masses, they are extremely compact, which guarantees a space saving of more than 50% compared to the traditional motor-gearbox combination.
  • the completely scalable platform of premo® servo actuators provides for various geometric output options, a wide variety of encoders, lubrification systems, temperature sensors and holding brake, and makes it possible to configure an optimal solution according to the different levels of performance required by the specific application. These rotating servo actuators have an innovative design and, thanks especially to the rounded “edges”, they are little prone to the deposit of impurities. Compared to TPM+ rotating servo actuators, this line reaches even higher torques and performance levels, in reduced spaces. The digital single-cable technology also halves the necessary wiring, with a kinetic energy saving and greater energy efficiency for the entire transmission.

Hygienic design micromotors for pharma and medical

Cyber® dynamic line micromotors, which reach 345 Watts, are much appreciated for Delta robots used in primary and secondary packaging by the pharmaceutical and medical industry. The Hygienic Design version is again envisaged in this case, characterised by its extreme resistance to corrosion and aggressive substances, high dynamics and power density, simplicity of assembly, low maintenance costs, absolute safety and ease of cleaning.
