Antimicrobials in expansion

Antimicrobial additives, traditionally used in the medical and pharmaceutical sector for manufacturing clothing, transfusion bags, plastic containers and devices etc are gaining ground in various other fields, food first and foremost (but also furnishing, baby products and anywhere where hygiene and healthiness are a must).

Viba provides a complete range, structured in families with specific performances for different demands. The main ones are:
- Vibatan PE 01639, recommended for polyolefin resins and other polymeric compositions that require high protection against deterioration caused by fungi and bacteria;
- Vibatan EP 02661 prevents the growth and propagation of microorganisms on the article and maintain its effectiveness even after repeated washings as it releases over time small doses of active substance. It is non-toxic, FDA compliant, and is therefore particularly suitable for food contact;
- Vibatan PC 03283 is added to the polycarbonate, in the processes of transformation by extrusion or injection moulding.
