It is driven by a rack and pinion mechanism with a a stepper motor with integrated absolute mechanical multi-turn encoder and a 24VDC drive of the Alpha Step AZ Series.

Gripper opening (max. 25 mm) and gripping force are programmable. Motion data is transmitted from a host system to the drive via Modbus RS485, EtherCat, EtherNet/IP, Profinet, or pulse train protocols.

Simple setting of the gripping force and time, as well as the speed according to the object to be gripped, enable gentle and reliable gripping of even fragile or deformable objects made of glass and plastic.

The motor approaches the load at high speed, then decelerates just before making contact with the surface at low speed.

In addition, the function of monitoring gripper coordinate information in the driver, sent to a host PLC, allows the size of the load to be measured before gripping.
