Printing variable data in white
Domino Digital Printing Solutions launches at Labelexpo Europe 2017 (also present at stand 9A60 will be the firm’s Italian distributor NTG) its new K600i white digital printing module, which features a cutting-edge ink management system.
K600i White is an evolution of the K600i drop-on-demand piezo inkjet system.
It incorporates two printing lines for greater ink deposition capacity at high speeds.
The system has a standard printing width of 333 mm and a production speed
of 50 m/min, or 75 m/min at a lower coverage setting
Designed to guarantee outstanding reliability, the pigmented UV white ink (K600i White) is intended mainly for conventional printing lines in need of a digital alternative to screenprinting that can be easily integrated into an existing PDF workflow.
The system represents a functional solution for printing HD small texts on labels for cosmetics or for printing on other transparent substrates, as well as personalizing packaging with names, logos and promotional contests. When applied, it helps solve problems relating to the strong pigmentation of white inks, which when not in use tend to bind and thicken, causing blockage in the nozzles typically used in inkjet technology (resulting in unscheduled downtimes and higher maintenance costs).
To this end, Domino has designed its ink system from the ground up, adding a special tank for white ink to the K-series press with a device that continuously mixes the white ink, maintaining reliable performance and functioning.
The technology has already been applied to the latest version of the Domino N610i for seven-color labels and is now available for installation on existing digital presses and finishing lines.
