The slip ring with integrated position sensor
Servotecnica responds to the demand for miniaturised components for automation and robotics.
Servotecnica’s range of electrical collectors offers solutions with integrated encoders that can be applied in various industrial sectors. The most common include robotic joints in which, besides mechanical components, it is necessary to integrate both slip ring and encoder. The rotating collector permits the transmission of signals, power and possibly field buses from the fixed part to the moving robotic arm. The absolute encoder is used, instead, to recognise the position of the arm without the need for a homing procedure.
Compact and customised
With its product range, Servotecnica is able to offer a compact and customised solution on the basis of different application requirements, even the most demanding ones. Reference can be made to surgical robots, or environments in which the work area could be shared with workers (collaborative robots or arms installed on AGVs) and in which, therefore, it is always necessary to have redundancy of the position signal in order to avoid accidents in the event of malfunctioning. Thanks to the close partnership with FLUX, Servotecnica is therefore able to offer the ideal solution that integrates the redundant feedback into a single system.
Rotating tables and productivity
Another application in which these two assembled components are ideal are rotating tables, increasingly used on automatic machines as they make it possible to reduce the plant’s carbon footprint while increasing its productivity. In this type of application, the slip ring and the encoder are fixed at the base of the rotating table and for which it is necessary to use a collector with a large through-hole. Servotecnica’s easily customisable series of SVTS C collectors again in this case prove to be an ideal solution used together with the FLUX encoders.
