Mondi Industrial Bags have recently unveiled a new product called the SmartID Bag, each item having its own unique serialised Datamatrix ID code.

The code is directly printed onto the bag and can be accessed via a smartphone. The unique code allows Mondi’s customers to add a whole range of predefined information stored in a database and related to that code which can then be accessed by consumers. Consumers can also provide feedback on the product or additional requirements..
Mondi believes the benefits to the suppliers’ customers and distribution partners include product authentication, traceability, supply chain optimization, targeted marketing and improved customer loyalty. The company sees it as a
