Nestlé opens 18th factory in Mexico

Swiss multinational Nestlé has announced a major new $154 million investment to build a new factory in Veracruz, Mexico, which will process around 20,000 tons of locally sourced green coffee a year.

The factory is equipped with state-of-the-art environmental technologies, including treatment and reuse of water, use of 100% of coffee waste to produce energy, and use of 100% renewable electricity.

In the state of Veracruz, Nestlé buys raw materials from more than 10,000 producers annually.

During the 2017-2018 harvesting season, the company bought 340,000 bags (69 kg) of coffee in the state.

The new factory joins the 17 production facilities already present in Mexico, where Nestlé also produces dairy products, bottled water, pet care products and cooking aids.
