Vacuum technology for the “smart” factory

The Schmalz SCPS/SCPSi compact ejectors, with efficiency levels optimized by the Eco nozzle system, ensure a safe and high performance handling by intelligently managing energy consumption to the benefit of savings and sustainability.

In order to compete in the present globalized market, industrial production needs to be adapted to high standards of efficiency and flexibility, using state-of-the-art components.
Industry is therefore called upon to renew itself in this regard, in order to be able implement real product and process innovation: a dynamic supported by the advancement of information technology, which facilitates the accurate control and management of production.

These are concepts that Schmalz, a German company from Glatten, specializing in the production of vacuum components and systems, has made its own for decades, developing solutions for industrial automation and industrial handling, that stand out both for their high technological content as well as for their “smart” operation management.

Eco nozzles optimize the energy efficiency of the ejectors. Among the most interesting products in its portfolio, presented recently at Interpack, we cite the compact SCPS/SCPSi series ejectors.
Thanks to the Eco-nozzle, active generation vacuum compressed air consumption is reduced up to 15%. At the same time, the suction capacity is increased by 15%, enabling the safe handling of not only hermetic products, but also of slightly permeable cartons.
For hermetic pieces Schmalz has further improved the SCPS/SCPSi series, reducing evacuation time up to -600 mbar, hence increasing the speed of the system and the machine cycles.
Energy and performance optimization is made possible by an integrated control system that measures all process data. The IO-Link master allows two-way communication with superior bus systems, with obvious advantages for users, who can charge and monitor the data in their control unit. This allows remote control of the energy requirements of the entire vacuum system.

The plant manager can quickly obtain information about the plant’s operation and efficiency or any maintenance needs - the latter, which is of fundamental importance, for example, for three-shift packaging processes.
Lastly, further applications are available with the ecoPump SEP ejector module.
