Packaging Speaks Green: The international forum dedicated to the sustainable packaging
FICO Foundation and Ucima come together to create an event of in-depth study on the theme of sustainability in the packaging supply chain.
The next 20 and 21 February Bologna will host the general states of sustainable packaging.
Ucima (Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers’ Association) and FICO Foundation organize Packaging Speaks Green, an international forum dedicated to the development of sustainability and to the circular economy in the packaging sector.
An event focus on global trends in sustainable and biodegradable packaging and dedicated to B2B, which includes a high attendance of international guests who will be discussing three macro-themes: legislation, retailers and Brand Owners, materials and technologies.
Experts from the USA, the European Union, India, China and Australia will be in attendance to present the choices that the governments of these key markets are introducing in the environmental and awareness-raising fields of society and industry. Some of the main global retailers will be presenting concrete examples of best practices in packaging management in the different product sectors, bearing witness to a concrete and continuously developing commitment.
Interested stimuli will also come from the panel dedicated to technological innovation and materials that represent the ultimate in compostable and recyclable themes, within a circular economy aimed at enhancing the principle of efficiency. This is not only in relation to energy choices but also encompasses the use or reuse of all resources during all phases of the production cycle: beginning with sustainable product design, in terms of durability, separable parts, biodegradability and production with renewable and non-toxic resources, and ending with correct waste management. All supported by production processes consisting of increasingly digitalised systems that are able to control and monitor each phase to minimise energy consumption.
The event gives breathing space also to the world of research in which will be protagonists Universities and Research Centres committed to new materials and packaging design.
A two-day forum which promises to be full of stimulus and which aims to provide new tools and methods for the design of sustainable packaging; identifying barriers to development and providing strategies to achieve change and to debunk the false myths about the world of sustainability.
