Compression technology at the service of pharma

Sacmi will be attending Pharmintech for the first time, where it will present its CBF (Compression Blow Forming) platform.

The solution is based on a successful intuition: Apply CBF (normally used for the production of caps and closures) to the plastics sector, to flexibly produce containers with thin but sturdy walls, while saving energy and raw materials.
The compression technology is a viable alternative to the usual injection and blow molding systems: besides ensuring more rapid production cycles, it enables packaging to be obtained directly from the HDPE, PS, or PP granules.

The converting process is based on the continuous extrusion of the material, cut in predetermined doses which are then inserted into an open mold and formed by compression in the preform. The latter, inside the mold, is thermoregulated to a temperature that enables stretch blow-molding, until the creation of the container, that comes out neatly in line.

A reminder also that Sacmi’s service is not limited to the provision of the CBF machine, but is complemented by the integration of all upstream and downstream plant solutions, including hi-speed, inline vision quality control vision systems.
