Durst reinvents the drop...
... and develops a technology with Fine Art print quality that sets new standards for digital printing.
The innovation of the Rho P10 series is summed up in the comments of Alberto Bassanello, the satisfied sales director for the Italian market of Durst Phototechnik SpA.
«Thanks to the dedication of our research staff - the manager states - we have managed to release this print technology onto the market almost a year earlier than anticipated. Its innovative characteristics enable combining a quality 10 picoliter drop, managed by latest generation Durst electronics, with the productivity of industrial printing systems (up to approximately 170 m2/h - 200 m2/h). Moreover, with the Rho series we offer the opportunity for maximum customization. In fact, it is possible to select the most suitable model for every requirement among configurations with 4 - 8 colors, 200 - 320 cm web, roll to roll and flatbed, including a converting version (PAC) with completely automated loading and unloading that does not require the constant presence of an operator».
This last solution was specially designed for printing on cardboard and made with the great design responsiveness of the South Tyrolean concern, which in short time and responding to the requests of converters, developed it and equipped it with an automatic feeder & stacker system with a compensation-based loading and unloading system, a powered steam-soaking top and a guide system that guarantees that the material stays level during printing.
A technology, in practise
Described as an expression of a radical change underway in the field of digital printing, due to its extremely high definition combined with flexibility and industrial scale productivity, the Rho P10 range of 10 picoliter UV inkjet printers with Fine Art quality by Durst has met with acclaim among users.
The P10 range includes the flatbed models RHO P10 200 / 250 (both also available in PAC version) and the roll to roll RHO P10 320R.
The flatbed models are suitable for printing on rigid materials such as cardboard, polystyrene sheets, metal, acrylic and PVC.
The roll to roll system, on the other hand, is designed for printing on reel-fed materials (supports for backlighting, textiles and vinyls…).
The heart of the systems are the Quadro Array 10 printing heads, which manage the Fine Art print quality, with resolutions up to 1000 dpi, offering the option of added light colors (light cyan and light magenta). The definition of the images and shading stands up to the “closer look test”, and is without precedent in the digital sector, making these systems suitable for POP and small and medium packaging formats, in addition to interior and exterior signs and for backlighting for luxury items.
Focus on flatbeds. In particular, the RHO P10 200 / 250 flatbeds combine the compactness and robustness of industrial design with production efficiency and reliability. With respective maximum webs of 2 and 2.5 m, they can eliminate stops related to adapting the steam-soaking top to different formats. This means that they can print continuously, maximizing productivity 24/7. Furthermore, they feature a mechanical front register system that enables printing sheets side by side at the same time and perfect register of large format sheets.
