Lucart and CPR System present Newpal SpA
Lucart and CPR System have chosen the green technology expo Ecomondo as the venue to present Newpal S.p.A., an associate company that uses innovative machinery to mould high-quality pallets made from recycled plastic. The project will completely close the recycling loop for Tetra Pak® type beverage containers, bringing major environmental benefits and new business opportunities.
To achieve this goal, Newpal will invest around €7 million in the construction of an industrial hub with an innovative moulding plant for recycled plastics. The machinery, which is undergoing testing and installation and is due to become fully operational by the summer of 2022, will enable Newpal to transform the plastic granules produced at the Lucart plant in Diecimo (Ferrara) from polyethylene and aluminium waste recovered from beverage cartons into recycled plastic pallets.
Once built, it will be used by CPR System for handling goods in the agri-food sector and by Lucart for its sanitary paper products. As a further demonstration of the project’s sustainability in accordance with the company’s business model, CPR System will recycle and reuse pallets at the end of their useful lifetime, allowing them to be reintroduced into the industrial process rather than being sent to landfill.
The creation of Newpal SpA marks an important step forward in innovating the recycled plastics moulding sector, as well as a strategic milestone towards Lucart’s goal of using 60% recycled fibre raw materials by 2030.
