Mechatronics for packaging
Maximum productivity, safety in processes and innovation are the features of the Wittenstein Group’s offer for the packaging industry. For primary or secondary packaging, parallel axis robots or end of line applications, the concern is able to supply optimal solutions for any axis.
Operating in Italy since 2001, Wittenstein offers a vast range of gearmotors to meet the many exigencies of a constantly evolving sector: reduced backlash planetary gearheads with flange, smooth shaft, switch or involute, worm screw with hollow shaft, flange or shaft, hypoid gearheads (including with planetary stage), as well as stainless steel and anti-corrosion lines.
The anti-wear products, in particular, are designed to resist the high pressure jet stream washing standard in food production or pharmaceutical lines. Gearhead protection is guaranteed by the use of stainless steel parts and a special nickel-plated housing.
The EHEDG certified Hygienic Design series is made using materials that are highly resistant to corrosive chemicals and features geometry that enables quick, efficient and safe cleaning.
In addition to these classics, Wittenstein proposes a series of mechatronic solutions: TPM+ series compact and high precision rotary servoactuators; Simco® Drives, which, when combined with Cyber® Dynamic Line brushless servomotors, are suitable for applications requiring dynamic high performance with high precision positioning.
Particularly popular for packaging machinery, as well as pick & place applications, are Ternary® rotary and linear actuators, in which all components (motor, electronics, transducers, control system, firmware and precision mechanics) are housed in a single unit. For better process control, intelligent sensors are also available, which can be integrated directly into the gearhead or installed as a modular solution for simultaneous measurement of torque, radial force and temperature. To guarantee enhanced safety, Witteinstein uses food grade (NSF registered) lubricants, which serve the same functions as common lubricants, but are designed for use in environments where food is produced and packaged, where accidental contact with the product is possible.
