Hall 20, Stand A/10 | The SB021 screen printing machine responds with technological evolution to the needs of convenience, productivity and environmental protection.

Agile, advanced, cost effective and green. These are the features of the new screen printing machine SB021 presented by Omso, an Italian company with long experience in the market of decoration and direct printing on objects.

It is a numerical control machine that ranges from 1 to 3 colors, with the possibility of integrating a vision system for the control of print quality, in order to ensure the absence of defects.

Thanks to its small footprint, the SB021 adapts to any context and prints on different plastic or glass formats: cylindrical, elliptical (where it is possible to print the same color on both sides, with the same printing group, with high precision registration between colors) as well as flat. The optimized and tool-less format changeover, with minimal equipment and automated adjustments for less machine downtime, reflects the technological evolution of the system, which can also be seen in the user-friendly interface, therefore also suitable for operators not accustomed to the use of servo-assisted machines.

The SB021 meets the criteria of Industry 4.0 but also of convenience and respect for the environment: UV LED lamps (instead of the traditional mercury ones) and high-efficiency motors ensure reduced energy consumption, zero ozone emissions and lower CO2. production.

A word from ... Marco Magnani, Sales Manager OMSO S.p.A.

More inclusive, sustainable, safe: how is the cosmetic product/packaging changing, also in the light of the new consumer trends, which focus on wellness and self-care?

«Cosmetic packaging is one of the most sensitive to change and experimentation with new sustainable and less impactful materials. Omso is constantly striving to deal with these new developments in the best possible way, respecting the expected quality of the result and trying to make its machinery ever more efficient and less impactful from an environmental point of view. In concrete terms, the use of LED lamps on our machinery drastically reduces energy consumption, without compromising the quality of the final product. We are talking about a 70-80% lower consumption compared to mercury vapor lamps, which translates into less CO2 production and zero ozone production.

Also important is the average lifespan of these components, about 20 times longer than mercury vapor lamps. Moreover, disposal at the end of their life is less impactful».

General supply difficulties, significant increases in freight rates, raw material and energy prices: how are you coping with these issues?

«Omso has been constantly monitoring the market for about a year, analyzing its needs and planning purchases well in advance, with an overstock to guarantee a good part of the 2022 production already in January. It has also validated new suppliers with the aim of generating backup and lowering purchase prices and has increased online purchases, unfortunately penalizing the financial component. The choice of reliable and standard components is fundamental to limit production inconveniences, as well as limiting applications with a high rate of customization. Attention is constant, even if the normal flow of materials towards production is not yet guaranteed.

The supply difficulties are transversal to all classes of goods, but in particular the electronic components are undergoing very long delays and there are lead times from 24-32 weeks of delivery. The onset of 2022 has brought further extended lead times and exacerbated costs, due to multiple reasons. In addition to the pandemic, the delay in the supply chain, the cost of energy (which has led energy-hungry companies to reduce or stop production in order to contain expenses) and transport, we must consider the cautious attitude of buyers (who, in the absence of material, tend to generate new orders by overestimating the real needs), the lack of qualified personnel (especially in the SW field) and production capacities that are not adequate to market demand».
