The role of print & apply in Industry 4.0

Identification and traceability: key elements for optimizing logistics processes and automating production. Weber Marking Systems for secure connectivity on packaging lines and in automated packaging systems.

Labeling plays a central role in packaging lines, not only for the correct identification of products, packages and pallets, but also to ensure real-time communication, secure management of variable data and agility of logistics processes.

Innovation in industrial labeling is now the specialty of Weber Marking Systems, which, in addition to pioneering the development of electric print & apply systems, has a full range of print & apply ready to meet the challenges of Industry 4.0.

Connectivity means more control

Weber’s print & apply systems are equipped with a logic controller and all the interfaces required for automation, enabling connection to other systems via Fieldbus or OPC/UA. Specifically, they feature Ethernet and USB ports that allow the labellers to be connected to a network or directly to a PC, making it possible to upload firmware, diagnose errors, use remote control, perform back-ups and set every parameter on the labeller. Of course, interconnection to the factory computer systems is possible, allowing access to configuration and operating data, as well as remote programming.

Labeling: an intuitive experience

The third generation of Weber’s best-selling print & apply machine, the LA4050E, offers a simple and intuitive man-machine interface: it consists of a 7’’ multilingual Resistive LCD touch screen, which allows not only general system set-up, but also access to a reserved login area for adjustment and maintenance of the various labelling parameters.

The guarantee of safety

As a pioneer in the development of electric print & apply, Weber innovates its systems by using applicators with reduced forces at play and meeting the safety standards imposed by the EN415 reference standard.

Modular, compact systems, with color-coded circuitry and pneumatics separated from electronics, are much safer, simplifying operations and technical interventions. What’s more, Weber systems do not require protection barriers.

Labelling partner

Weber Marking Systems has been active in the industrial labelling and coding market for over 50 years and today its imprint is clearer than ever, thanks to the continuous development and innovation of electric print & apply systems. Weber is part of the Bluhm-Weber Group with Headquarters in Germany and the United States - as well as an extensive network of direct subsidiaries and distributors worldwide - relies on a wide innovative range of print & apply systems suitable for the requirements of Industry 4.0.
