Safety, even when retrofitting

In order to protect operators working in the vicinity of operating machinery, Pilz offers a drive with PMCprotego DS safety board, which enables monitoring motion, stop and torque of the motor using any feedback and synchronous motor (brushless, linear or torque).

It can be easily integrated within existing fieldbuses of various types (EtherCAT, Profinet, Profibus, CANopen), or paired with Pilz PMCprimo C motion control.
Once the critical threshold has been passed, the safety functions react within milliseconds, reaching PL3 and SIL3 (as required by EN ISO 13849-1 and EN/IEC 62061) without requiring any additional sensors, using only the motor with standard feedback that is already present in the application.
The solution thus enables retrofitting existing installations to raise their level of safety.
The drive is also capable of controlling the brake, where present, as well as any additional brake installed directly on the mechanical systems in order to manage vertical axes in accordance with the most recent indications or with high inertia.
