A scalable offering for packaging

Different levels of motion control solutions, able to respond to the diversified needs of customers and allow the creation of customized systems for the specific application: the complete and scalable offer for the packaging sector from Mitsubishi Electric.

Mitsubishi Electric starts with a basic cost-effective proposal, which integrates a compact FX5U-FX5UC PLC and FR-D700 series inverters, designed for simple applications, where high performance in terms of precision and speed is guaranteed.

There is also an intermediate solution, which involves the use of the SSCNETIII/H digital fiber optic motion bus, a 150 Mbps network that guarantees total immunity to electrical noise, very high performance and long connection distances (up to 1600 meters). The solution ranges from 3 to 5 axes, with servosystems of the MR-JE or MR-J4 family and a compact controller of the iQ-F series equipped with 4 or 8 axis Simple Motion Modules. This combination makes it possible, with a compact system, to develop very precise machines already reaching remarkable speeds up to 150 strokes per minute.

For extremely high-performance machines with very high speed and extreme precision, with complex synchronization, interpolation and electronic cams between the axes where integration with robots could also be envisaged, Mitsubishi Electric provides high-level solutions:

MR-J4 family servos, with a bandwidth of 2.5kHz and standard absolute encoders installed on the 22-bit servomotors (over 4 million pulses per revolution), guarantee extreme precision in positioning and speed control. Control based on the iQ-R platform can take place through Simple Motion Modules or the powerful Motion CPUs, which can be programmed to solve even the most complex application requirements related to motion control by exploiting the SSCNETIII/H fiber optic motion bus.

Mitsubishi Electric also offers the possibility to make the machine even more advanced by integrating it into 4.0 solutions.

In fact, the new latest generation MR-J5 servos also integrate artificial intelligence features with predictive maintenance functions. This makes it possible to schedule machine downtime, avoiding costly production losses and facilitating maintenance personnel.

All the devices are networkable thanks to the innovative Industrial Ethernet Network CC-Link IE TSN 1Gbit and can be connected also at high level to MES systems, Edge Computing, up to the company ERP systems, allowing to optimize the production.
