Standard, safe and suitable for food contact
Supplier of semi-finished items in tecnopolymer, Ensinger brought its packaging, beverage and food processing solutions to Ipack Ima.
Good signs of recovery registered in various industrial fields, a widespread tendency to explore new avenues of application with engineering plastics but also, primarily, the awareness of offering a host of quality solutions. These are the basic motivations which led Ensinger Italia (subsidiary of Ensinger GmbH) to take part in the event in Milan with its complete range of semi-finished products for the process, bottling and food packaging industry.
To best comprehend the Ensinger “philosophy”, we must take a step back when in 2013, EU Regulation 10/2011 effectively entered into force (where the food industry is called upon to adjust definitively by 2016).
Subject to regulation are components in direct contact with food made of plastic, which must comply with the requirements expressed by the PIM - Plastics Implementation Measure, with the aim of excluding any possible toxic effects that may occur as a result of the interaction between foodstuffs and plastics.
Hence very much ahead of time Ensinger has adjusted its range of products for the food industry to these strict criteria, making the migration tests on a wide range of semi-finished production standard.
Added value. To also ensure full traceability, Ensinger is able to provide the customer with a statement of compliance, specifically related to the single consignments of semi-finished products, as expressly required by the EU Regulation 10/2011, which defines in detail the migration tests to be carried out with different simulant substances, times and temperature depending on the intended application of the product.
Declarations of conformity to PIM provided by Ensinger contain the results of those tests, allowing customers to determine in advance whether a material is suitable for direct contact with a specific foodstuff, reducing the time and cost required for certification of the final product.
To respond effectively to market demands, the company has therefore chosen to certify a wide range of standard materials kept in stock, without creating a more expensive product line dedicated exclusively to the food sector, which guarantees maximum availability, material in a variety of formats and sizes, helping customers that serve other industries to avoid the need to lay in double stocks.
