Technology meets design: multiple prizes for Leister
At the heart of Leister plastic welding and hot air process solutions are cutting-edge technology and perfect functionality. The Swiss multinational complements these features with careful design based on long study of how to combine ergonomics, style and ease of use.
The results of this design project are something to celebrate: numerous sources have lent objective value to the concern’s rightful satisfaction with its work. Noteworthy products include the TRIAC AT, a manual tool for hot air welding that is lightweight and versatile, garnering the Red Dot Design Award in 2012. At the time, competing with 4,515 other products in 19 categories, TRIAC AT earned an honorable mention in the category “Industry and Artisanry”, for products featuring outstanding design: solutions that are sophisticated, innovative, dynamic and designed to the last detail, examined and evaluated in terms of creativity, functionality, intuitive use and environmental sustainability.
The recognition received by the TRIAC AT cemented the viability of this model, which also enjoys popularity among users due to functional characteristics like an easy-to-read electronic display and closed loop temperature and air flow control. The display enables the operator to read the temperature of the air with which the tool is working at any moment, preventing error due to incorrectly set welding parameters.
Closed loop control guarantees strict compliance with the set parameters, eliminating the effects of environmental conditions changing during the course of the day, as well as, within certain limits, those of fluctuating power (brownouts at the work site).
Other products, other prizes
Following the success of TRIAC, Leister did not rest on its laurels, continuing to dedicate uncommon attention to the design of its products, and again the results have been remarkable. During 2016 and 2017, Leister products have received seven international awards.
The firm’s solutions have received more than one Good DesignTM Award, bestowed by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design (a prestigious American institution established in 1950 by a partnership of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Chicago’s Merchandise Mart), which each year awards a seal of approval to concerns whose solutions feature excellent design. The 2016 prize, in the category Equipment, went to the Seamtek 900 AT, Minifloor, Geostar and Uniroof, four Leister products designed for various industries (plastic, textiles and construction).
The same products also received the German Design Award 2017, presented each year for products that distinguish themselves for their innovative design: Seamtek 900 AT for the category Industry, Minifloor and Geostar in the category Workshop and Equipment.
