ILPA Group moves forward in the recycling sector with a €5.5 million investment
AMP Recycling, part of the ILPA Group since 2012, has obtained a €5.5 million loan from Intesa Sanpaolo as part of the €6 billion fund intended to help companies make the transition to the circular economy. The Ferrara-based company will use the resources to raise the technological level of its recycling plants and expand the range of different types of plastics and waste treated.
“In keeping with the environmental sustainability objectives that our group has set itself, we intend to continue to invest in the Ferrara recycling centre in order to improve the qualitative and quantitative performance of our recycling plants,” commented Riccardo Pianesani, CEO of ILPA spa. “AMP Recycling has invested more than €20 million since 2012 on top of the projects financed by the green loan from Intesa Sanpaolo. This operation will enable us to increase the use of recycled materials in the production of packaging and semi-finished products within our group. Our integrated industrial supply chain is capable of transforming waste into new food packaging in full compliance with the principles of the circular economy and regulations on food contact and consumer health and safety.”
Since 2007, AMP Recycling has combined the activity of extruding and thermoforming packaging for the horticultural sector with a large plastic recycling plant for the treatment of post-consumer PET bottles. This business is one of the phases of the closed loop and vertical integration approach to the rPET supply chain adopted within the Bologna-based group, which will also be of benefit to member company ILIP for the production of thermoformed recycled plastic food packaging.
The ILPA Group is one of the few European players to have adopted closed loop plastics recycling, with complete control of the recycled PET supply chain to guarantee the origin and traceability of materials.
