A synthetic cold seal
At the fifth edition of ProSweets (Cologne, D, 29th January-1st February 2012) Gerosa Group will be offering one of the most recent innovations in the field of cold seals for food packaging. It is a synthetic “latex-free” cold-seal, developed on the basis of similar products already in use on the U.S. market in the pharmaceutical field, and contains synthetic latex instead of the usual natural latex. Combined with special resins, it produces a product with comparable and in some cases superior performance to conventional seals, and has further advantages. “Latex-free”, for example, does not contain proteins, which are present in rubber latex and which may cause allergic reactions, it does not smell of ammonia and has a low olfactory impact. The new product also ensures excellent sealing on both monofilm as well as laminated structures, seal opening without whiskers and a longer roll life thanks to the lesser degradation of the synthetic as compared to the rubber latex.
