Film for recyclable packaging

The reduction of environmental impact passes through knowledge of the state-of-the-art and of the strategies suitable for obtaining authentic sustainability. Ticinoplast’s films are tangible examples and open up new perspectives.

Although still waiting for the adoption of the technical annexes, the new PPWR is clear: all plastic packaging must be “recyclable” by 2030. How to face this epochal challenge? Ticinoplast can help manufacturers of finished products/packaging to find solutions that are able to replicate, with completely recyclable alternatives, the performance levels required of current packaging systems. This applies to both PE-based or PP-based polyolefin streams.

Design for recycling. The solutions developed by the Lombardy-based company are driven by circularity and Design for Recycling principles which - combined with experience, expertise in the field and the ability to develop partnerships with like-minded film producers - make it possible to address the needs dictated by the shift towards mono-materials and to develop films designed for the specific needs of customers. We are not talking only of sealing film with blown technology: Ticinoplast can, in fact, design film to compensate for the limitations of mono-materials replacing PET (MDOPE - BOPE - CPE). Qualities such as rigidity, resistance to puncture, sealing at low temperature and mechanical resistance to the drop test, to give some examples, can, in fact, be balanced only by combining the characteristics of all the components of the laminate.

Not only downgauging. The films developed by Ticinoplast now permit the achievement of stringent objectives reducing the quantity of packaging, thanks to the possibility of producing lighter packaging without giving up the prerogatives of protection and preservation of the packaged products.

Among others, foamed films permit a maximum reduction in weight (up to 25%) and can be personalised, for example, with targeted sealing temperatures. Finally, Ticinoplast will soon be ready to support customers with LCA calculations on the products.
