Disposable cardboard cutlery... “smooth feeling”

In advance of the European ban on the use of disposable plastic cutlery, plates and straws coming into force in July 2021, Californian company EcoTensil is launching AquaDot, a range of patented, recyclable and compostable cardboard cutlery, also in the Old Continent. Made of certified cellulose pulp from sustainably managed forests, with a simple “Bend to touch dots™” fold, EcoTensil turns into sturdy pallets. The collapsible design is designed to fit into popular take-out packages, without having to change existing packaging processes. Unlike wood compostable alternatives, AquaDot cutlery does not alter the taste of food and is smoother, providing a pleasant sensory experience.

A bottle born from the ice of fjords

For the brand NUUK - named after the capital of Greenland, famous for the fjords from which its mineral water comes - Sidel has created a 500 ml bottle with a sophisticated and distinctive design, compatible with tethered caps. Made of 100% recycled PET (rPET), its cylindrical shape stands out on a massive, asymmetrical and faceted base, as if emerging from a block of ice. The bottle is produced using the BOSS (Base Over Stroke System) patented by Sidel. In order to optimize the distribution of the material in the profile of the base, the mechanical formation takes place during the blowing process, performed in an extremely regular way, with a minimum quantity of material. The purity of the design of “Nordic” inspiration is enhanced by the graphics on the label printed on a transparent background, whose ribbon-like geometric patterns, with symbolic and zoomorphic subjects, are inspired to the Borre style of Viking art: the drakkar, the two fishes, the arctic fox and the polar bear.

Bag in Tube for extra virgin olive oil

Always looking for the best way to preserve the organoleptic characteristics of its products, the Bolognese farm Palazzo di Varignana has introduced “Bag in Tube”, a pack for extra virgin olive oil, designed to prevent oxidation and ensure its perfect preservation at home. It consists of a cardboard tube, with a lid and a tinplate base, which contains a double-layer bag. The product is dispensed through the tap, practical and ergonomic. Thanks to the characteristics of the container, the oil is protected from oxygen, its most dangerous “enemy”, keeping intact its aroma and taste, its organoleptic qualities and nutraceutical virtues.
