Turck Banner Italy: assets and objectives
With the inauguration in September 2018 of Giuliano Collodel in the role of CEO, Turck Banner Italia has embarked on a path of reflection on its market positions, management and short-medium term objectives. And today it is proposed in a renewed “2.0” version, intending to claim a decisive role as an all-round industrial automation partner.
Called upon to manage and communicate the values of a company and its quality products in “Italian style”, Collodel took the first step towards the necessary change, consolidating and organizing the sales force in a different way.
«In the past - explains the manager - “TBI “has entrusted well over half of its commercial activity to agencies that, by their nature, could not experience the breadth and potential of the entire product portfolio. Instead, making use of a sales force of its own means relying on internally trained professionals who interpret company values in the best possible way and who, in addition to knowing the products, follow developments. In particular we think of their proactive role not only towards customer prospects but also towards the development of system integrators. Not to mention the fact that the growth of personal skills will allow us to improve the level of awareness of our brand».
The new course of TBI therefore starts from the renewal of a structure that, according to the first evaluations, could allow us to double our turnover by 2021, «an objective that is neither easy nor modest - admits Collodel - but I think it is within our capabilities given the potential of the technologies we have and of the people involved, committed to bringing out the strengths of the Turck Banner product portfolio. Let us not forget that belonging to a multinational group guarantees access to extraordinary resources derived from R&D, which translate into competitive advantages both in individual products and in their applications but also in benefits for our industrial partners».
Focus on the customer and on the products
Propose not a product tout court but its intelligent and personalized application: this is the further goal that TBI intends to pursue on the Italian market, sharing experiences acquired in other world markets or in different industrial environments.
«I take the example of our beautiful and functional lighting systems, that are still little known on the Italian market. They have been designed to illuminate parts of machines and to facilitate operators, but being LED and covering the whole range of colors, they can be transformed into communication devices to signal a problem or a need for intervention; or I think of our sensors, which are of high quality and that can be offered to OEMs along with innovative, ingenious, high sustainability application solutions that always ensure “that little bit more”».
Thanks to its constant ability to renew itself, Turck Banner is the protagonist of the IO-Link world: besides being among the founders of the IO-Link consortium, it is also among the few to offer the IO-Link-Master, which facilitates reliable and efficient communication between management levels and sensors/actuators since it acts as a gateway between Ethernet and IO-Link. The IO-Link master also allows diagnostics and parameterization integrated from the control system directly up to the sensor level.
Finally, Collodel recalls the IP rate. «Most manufacturers guarantee IP65. Turck Banner instead has made IP69X its own standard. It is a much higher degree of protection than many solutions proposed in stainless steel to meet the production needs of sectors such as packaging, food & beverage, chemicals, where robust industrial washing cycles are indispensable».
ACTIVE SINCE 1996, TURCK BANNER ITALIA SRL IS THE ITALIAN JOINT VENTURE OF TWO PRESTIGIOUS COMPANIES: the German company Hans Turck GmbH & Co. KG (production of inductive and capacitive proximity sensors, connectors, cables, bus systems and RFID systems, a turnover of 700 million euros) and Banner Engineering Corp. (USA, production of photocells, ultrasonic sensors, optical safety products, vision systems and wireless systems, a turnover of 500 million euros). The two companies preside over several countries in JV (Italy, England, France, South Africa and Singapore) and, while continuing to keep brands separate in other areas, they are in fact complementary and occupy a prominent position in the survey and measurement. connection and communication, vision, identification and control markets. Turck Banner Italy (Bareggio, MI) deals with sales, marketing, distribution and technical support for Turck and Banner products and solutions throughout Italy.
