Save the Bottle FARSIGHTED | ACCESSIBLE | EQUILIBRATED | SAFE | RESPONSIBLE
What it is. “Save the Bottle” is a pop-up insert (patent pending) for e-commerce packaging of bottles or flacons; easy to assemble, resistant, sustainable, it is designed to give maximum visibility to the product, and at the same time protect its integrity during transport. The solution is tested according to the strictest ISTA protocols.
Materials. 100% corrugated cardboard.
Product or target market. Glass bottles for wine/liqueurs, but also oil, preserves and any liquid product sold in bottles or flasks.
Design and/or communication. Versatility and simplicity of use are the strong points of this solution, which adapts to 90% of the bottles on the market, with infinite possibilities of customization for particular formats. The protective insert, supplied flat and already glued, does not require any pre-assembly and can be formed by the operator with a single movement in less than 1 second. The modular design has been conceived to compose packages of 3 bottles or multiples; "Save the Bottle" has been conceived to improve not only logistics but also the customer experience: in fact, product removal and packaging reassembly are simple and intuitive. The communication on the pack guides the consumer's gestures in flattening the pop-up and disposing of it in the separate paper collection. The characteristics of the design and infographics have been tested in the SK User Experience Lab, using a sophisticated eye tracking system.
Technology. Careful team planning has made it possible to calibrate the use of raw materials to guarantee the protection of fragile/liquid products, avoiding overpackaging. The production is carried out on standard lines, adjusted with specific settings, the result of Smurfit Kappa's know-how.
Sustainability. Made with 72% recycled paper, Save the Bottle uses 44% less material than the industry benchmark. It is 100% recyclable in the paper stream, and the steps to be taken to properly dispose of it are clearly and comprehensively communicated. Before being disposed of, the solution can be easily reused, for eventual return, but can also be disassembled in a few steps and stored lying down, for a second use.
