An IPC that separates logic and motion controls

Omron launches Sysmac IPC, the first PC to feature two operating systems, guaranteeing independent logic and motion controls, while the concern’s new generation of industrial computers (available in box + monitor as well as panel PC versions) receives an award for its innovative value and quality design.

Omron’s Industrial PCs (IPCs) are designed to guarantee the same reliability and robustness of a PLC, combined with the flexibility and compatibility with commercial software and hardware as a PC.
«In order to eliminate non-essential complexities from the product design - explains Michel Min, Global Manager Omron IPC - we have removed all cables and adopted a new patented natural ventilation cooling system. These design solutions have optimized production processes and reduced costs».
Computers with a vision of the future
Scalable hardware and software and complete integration of Sysmac automation into the platform enables machine builders to choose which control to use between the Machine Controller Sysmac NJ and the IPC.
Sysmac IPCs work with two independent dual operating systems, WES7 and QNX. The RTOS QNX uses the Machine Controller Engine, which makes use of two latest generation Intel 17 processor cores for continuous control of the machine. The Sysmac Engine enables monitoring the functioning of Windows, sharing data and, if Windows crashes, rebooting while maintaining the same machine control. The same commercial software and hardware can be installed on the part of the system with the Windows OS as on a normal PC, enabling instant connection to IT platforms.
The program created for the Machine Controller NJ can be completely reused on the IPC, guaranteeing that less time is needed for development thanks to its complete scalability.
These functions won Sysmac IPC a Red Dot Award 2016 (focus on its characteristics in the box).

Award-winning multi-touch monitor
Resistant, but especially beautiful, so much so that it has received recognition in the “IF World Design Guide 2016”. The multi-touch monitor is made of die-cast aluminium with smoothed edges, making it almost appear as if sculpted from the raw material to create a harmonious shape. Its uniqueness lies in the details, such as the backlit laser incision logo that highlights the product’s style and value.
More generally, the industrial multi-touch technology provides “natural” control with excellent functionality (even when the operator is wearing gloves).
Its uniqueness is also in the details: «Personalization with the backlit laser incision logo confers style, uniqueness and value».
«The new Industrial PCs - continues Min - with their reliability and modular design (the first release can be supplied in up to 400 different models), are designed to last while staying constantly on the cutting edge». Omron’s Sysmac IPC: technical characteristics
