The Green Soul System is three years old
Marketing, products and ideas for sustainability from the Gerosa Group, rethinking the value chain, from raw material to waste, finding solutions that can dramatically reduce the negative effects of human activities on the environment.
On 22nd April, on the occasion of International Earth Day, Gerosa Group celebrated the first three years of the Green Soul System, the concern’s philosophy that aims at creating and renovating products and services leading to a reduction of their environmental impact. An anniversary with a dual significance, that celebrated by the flexible packaging converter of international standing, that coincides with the generation of "Green Generation Campaign", founded by the selfsame organizers of the International Earth Day and which in turn inspired the the Green Soul System.
When, why... The Green Soul System was created in April 2009, when researchers from the Group began to develop low environmental impact solutions in support of the declared objective of the International Earth Day: raise awareness towards responsible and sustainable consumption with the main purpose of seeking solutions for a future based on renewable energy.
And indeed the constant investments in R&D, the passion and drive of the Gerosa Group and the desire to contribute concretely to responsible and sustainable consumption led to the creation of the Green Soul System.
Considered a precursor of green philosophy among sector companies, Gerosa Group has hence assumed an active and conscious role in industry by adopting the system, which has become consolidated in time and has become the basis of the company's strategic planning aimed at using technology with a low environmental impact.
… and how. Through new programs and new facilities shared and implemented by the Group, the Green Soul System aims at recovering printing solvents, the creation of a cogeneration system and the use of a double air purification system.
The undertaking also includes the paperless laboratory project for sharing documents and regulations, which has as its goal the total elimination of paper.
It is estimated that up to 30% of aerial greenhouse gas emissions can be attributed to converting processes. More sustainable facility solutions, implemented under the Green Soul System, will enable a significant reduction in the Group’s environmental impact.
Calculating with “Primavera” - Cellografica Gerosa SpA (headquarters of the Gerosa Group) has developed "Primavera", an ad hoc program for the calculation of the equivalent emissions of CO2 for each production process involved in the manufacture of flexible packaging. "Primavera" has been devised to identify the impact of industrial activity on the environment, the potential for process improvement, increase in operativity and waste reduction. At its basis lies the painstaking analysis of the product lifecycle, an analysis that quantifies energy consumption, raw materials, waste produced, the interactions between human activities and the environment and emissions into the atmosphere.
Hence the Green Soul System enables a proactive rethinking of the value chain.
