SAVE FOOD Packaging Award

The WorldStar international awards get even better with the addition of a new category, “save food packaging”.

The announcement was made along with that of the cooperation between interpack (Duesseldorf, 4-10 May 2017) and the World Packaging Organisation (WPO), which organizes the WorldStar Awards, which recognize best practices in packaging globally.

After the national selections, the ceremony to award the most deserving products will be held in 2017, during interpack (which has supported the “Safe Food” initiative since 2011).
As pointed out by Bernd Jablonowski, Global Portfolio Director Packaging & Processing at Messe Düsseldorf, the level of participation at the fair, with innovation and international participation unequalled at the global level, offers a suitable platform for the WorldStar Awards.

The SAVE FOOD Packaging Awards will award packaging solutions that reduce leakage and waste of food products by prolonging the shelf life of the packaged goods and offering smart monoportions or those that protect foods even after opening... Packaging solutions made with the utmost respect for natural resources and using minimal quantities of material will also be evaluated.

The organization of the Awards is supported by associations in over 15 countries, including Africa and the Middle East, which will select national winners in the various categories (including retail and transport packaging), before sending them to the final round. The solutions will in any case be shown at the special exhibition “innovationparc” 2017, which, as in 2014, will once again focus on food waste and safeguarding resources.
