Product integrity with x-rays
Ishida’s IX-GA line of x-ray inspection systems for detecting foreign objects (fragments of bone, rock, glass, iron, steel and dense plastics) offers a selection of models capable of managing various production speeds and packaging formats, types and contents, regardless of temperature or salt and water concentration.
These devices detect foreign objects and impurities with maximum precision, at sizes as small as 0.3 mm, as well as any missing or damaged components. Based on Genetic Algorithm (GA) self-learning technology, IX-GA systems are designed to identify recurring defects or contaminations thanks to a progressive calibration protocol that automatically analyzes and records all images collected. The stainless steel frame makes cleaning the machine easy, and the touch screen interface is clear and intuitive, making it possible to adjust inspection parameters (like sensitivity) with the push of a button, offering up to 100 pre-set configurations for quick product changeover.
Ishida offers solutions for numerous specific needs, including IX-GA-65100, adapted to large-sized products (up to 100 x 65 x 39 cm), and the latest IX-G2.
The latter employs latest generation dual energy technology, which scans the product with two x-rays with different energy, producing two images that when compared enable enhanced detection of contaminants even in the most troublesome applications, as for example when the product’s density is close to that of the potential contaminant (as in the case of frozen mozzarella balls in bags). The food subjected to inspection is not affected by radiation and thus requires no label.
